I am thrilled to present to you the latest addition to my Disney Heroes Collection - The boy who never grows old, Peter Pan!
I've been wanting to draw and add Peter Pan to the collection [link]
for a long time now. Obviously he is one of Disney greatest heroes of all time, loved by millions around the world. But he is also a very young boy, just entering his teens, that was a kind of problem for me, the age issue...
I was going through some serious brain-storming sessions, trying to come up with a the right pose. That took like 5 deleted rough versions of this one! But that wasn't all, one the right pose was chosen, then I had to figure out how to create the right balance in the visual in order to avoid an un-tasteful portrait of such a young character. Eventually I came up with the result you see above, which I feel is the best one, in still in the same vibe as the rest of the collection. Also adding some punky accessories, giving Peter a more of Never-Grow-Old-Bad-Boy kind of feel, but still showing he's a sweet heart with that smile on his face
Looking at this drawing of mine, and then at portrait of Jim Hawkins from Disney's Treasure Planet, and I see how different they are. The are both almost the same age, young boys, but I was thinking of how I created them in such a different way, attitude, and pose - All thanks to the wonderful characteristics and depth that the people in Disney put into the character they create. Pure brilliance.
Anyway, there you have it, Peter Pan is part of the Disney Heroes Collection!
