"Spider-man" for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS - PLEASE READ THE FULL STATEMENT

A few months ago I was approached by Broadway star Reed Kelly to join his mission in raising money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by creating this portrait of him as his lead role in Spider-Man On Broadway which will be put on auction on the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS event this upcoming Monday, June 17th. It is the first time ever a drawing of mine from the Heroes Collection goes up for sale and it is your only chance to get this one of a kind creation, hand singed by Reed Kelly and I.

Broadway: Spider-man: Turn Off The Dark (Spider-man/Swiss Miss) The Addams Family (Dance Captain/Ancestor), and Wicked (Chistery u/s). Film: I Am Legend starring Will Smith; and Music & Lyrics starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. TV: SMASH, The Today Show, and American Dreams. He is also a trained aerial arts performer.

Other credits include performances with: Cher, Elton John, Jessica Simpson, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, N*SYNC, Alan Cumming, and Myléne Farmer. Recently Reed was on the cover of TIME Magazine and inside in the subsequent article.

:star: David Kawena -
Painter, Photographer and Visionary - artist David Kawena started to draw at the age of 3 and is working professionally since being a teen. Among his collaborations are big names like Nestlé, Sony Music and "La Poste" - the French post office where he puts his unique mark on illustrations for the 2011 World Judo Championship, the 2012 World Karate Championship and the upcoming 100th Anniversary of Tour De France. His personal works were featured in magazines world-wide including LQ Magazine and DNA Magazine.

Recently Kawena collaborated with Madonna, designing a shirt worn by the icon and her entire team during her Billboard Top Touring Award winning MDNA TOUR. Kawena is currently working on various photography projects and writing his first children book featuring the adventures of an imaginative young kid and his two dads.

"The Heroes Collection" - The series of paintings featuring leading male characters from classic animated movies in a thought-provoking never-before-seen sensual light came from the desire to change the public's perception of the male protagonists, showing a gay character can be the hero of the story. An instant and constant online sensation since it's premièred in 2007, each piece of the collection is on permanent demand to be sold. The portrait of Reed Kelly as "Spider-man" marks the first time Kawena branched out of the magic kingdom into the super heroes world and the first time a drawing from the collection is made available to the public. It was specially drawn for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS fund-raising.
