The Fan Art Book Project Begins Now!!!

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 31, 2009, 5:57 AM
Hi everyone! How ya'll doin'???

The time has come my friends! I am glad to announce the book project (that's how I can it) got the green as-a-frog light, and the project is starts NOW!

In less them 5 months from today Walt Disney Pictures will release (Nation wide across the U.S) their latest film - "The Princess and the Frog".

The film is being described as "an animated comedy set in the great city of New Orleans.

From the creators of "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin" comes a modern twist on a classic tale, featuring a beautiful girl named Tiana (ANIKA NONI ROSE), a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana."

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG will be Disney's 45th animated masterpiece and it is the first hand-drawn animated film to be released in theatres from the studio in 5 years! Being directed by the super-team of John Musker and Ron Clements, along with music by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman, and a team full of all top Disney animators of the passed 15 years, it is sure to be a classic!

In my previous journal entry I tolled you all about an idea I had in mind, of creating an "Art of" book for the film that will feature only art inspired by the film that was created by you, the fans! Yes, YOU!!! Sort of like the "The Art of" books that Disney is releasing for their movies, including this one - but this be "The -FAN- Art of The Princess and the Frog"!!! After hearing just how great this idea of mine received by you all...

So, shell we get to work then?!

"OMG OMG OMG! I wanna be a part of it - what must I do?!"
Well, here is all the info and rules you need to know:

Well, for start you need to draw! The "Book Project" will be focused on HAND DRAWN visuals. No CGI and no Photography. Sorry guys, but I want to celebrate the film's medium and it’s return to the good old 2D hand drawn animation style. The "Book Project" will be focused on the film's characters. You can draw one or 20 characters from the film, but each drawing have to contain at least one character from the movie!

“BUT... I wanted to draw all the Disney Princesses heaving launch at Tiana’s restaurant?! Can I draw characters NOT from The Princess and the Frog too???”

YES! Of course you can! A Disney cross over art is one of the best things ever! As long as you keep at least one character from The Princess and the Frog as part the main focus of the drawing.

“I’m not much of an artist but I have a great passion for Disney’s 2D films and the return to classic animation means a lot to me! How can I still be a part of the “Book Project”?

If you have the passion for it, you’re in it! I am not looking only for artists! If anyone would like to write a few - or even A LOT - of words about the film, what it means to you, how Disney 2D films have effected your life, what dose it means to you to have the first African American Princess in a Disney film... write a small article about how they view this film, it’s meaning, it’s importance and the importance this film can have in their/your eyes, or if you just want to thank the film’s cast and crew - this would be really amazing! Anything of that sort will be more then welcome!

OTHER THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

NO PORN and no intense sexual themes to the drawings. If you want to draw Tiana and Naveen with swimsuits and such that is fine.

NO GORE, VIOLENCE, HORROR or DEATH type of drawings of the main characters unless it’s in straight relation to the film. I don’t want to see Neveen bleeding out of his eyes, or Tiana with no hands! If you have anything that is Halloween related send it in and I'll view it and have my "verdict".

NO RACISM of any kind! This is definantly NOT THE PLACE!

NO NON DISNEY characters.

NO LOGOS - Please try to avoid adding logos to the drawings unless you really fell like you must - drawing a poster like fan art, or a drawing that the characters are around the logo and such will be accepted after carefully viewed. Take that into consideration.

NO TRACING of actual film frames or commercial poses! Come on my friends - BE CREATIVE!!! You can do it! It's not about drawing something that would look like a still from the film - it's about what moves you to draw!

Other then that if you want to send some info about yourself, pictures of you with your Disney collection at home for example, a small resume of any sort I would love that to be in the book! My fellow artists - this is a great place for you to display your work for the BIG SHOTS at Disney/Pixar, so go nuts!

...Yay! I'll try to draw something then - but is there a deadline? :?

Anyway, does it have to be colored? I always draw on paper but I only color it on the PC, because otherwise it's always a disaster. :crying: If it must be hand-colored, however, I'll make multiple drawings and see what I can do, but no promises! :P

...Although you could always use my "example" as "this girl can't draw but the movie inspired her to try anyway". :lmao: That is, if my drawing makes it through...
